The Many Ways Juvederm® Can Change Your Appearance for the Better

How does Juvederm® work?
Juvederm® solution contains hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in healthy, youthful skin. The solution works in three ways once it’s injected:
- First, it immediately plumps up wrinkles, lines, scars, and other depressions and imperfections and restores lost volume.
- Second, it works to attract and retain moisture over time, so your skin continues to look and feel plump, firm, resilient, and youthful.
- And third, Juvederm® injections stimulate the production of collagen deep inside your skin. Collagen is a natural fiber that’s produced by your skin. When we’re young, our bodies produce a lot of collagen. But as we get older, we produce much less, and that allows our skin to sag, form wrinkles, and lose natural volume and plumpness. By stimulating the production of collagen, Juvederm® helps your body restore lost volume and build elasticity naturally over time.
Juvederm® is available in several formulations, which makes it a lot easier to customize your treatment, depending on the areas you want to have treated and the results you’d like to achieve.
What can Juvederm® treat?
Juvederm® can treat static wrinkles — lines that form as a result of sun exposure, natural aging, chronic stress, genes, and even gravity. At Dutch Hollow Medical Day Spa, we offer five formulations of Juvederm® to help patients get just the right treatment for their needs and goals:
- Juvederm XC® is designed to treat moderate-to-severe lines, wrinkles, and folds, especially nasolabial folds (the lines that extend from the corners of your nose to the corners of your mouth).
- Juvederm Ultra® XC plumps up thin lips that have lost volume due to aging. In some people, it can also be used to fill in nasolabial folds.
- Juvederm Volbella® XC is also used to plump up lips and provide extra fullness for sexy, pouty results. Volbella can also be used to fill in and smooth out so-called lipstick lines or smoker’s lines, tiny, vertical lines that extend outward from the edges of your lips (also called perioral lines).
- Juvederm Voluma® XC is designed to restore lost volume in the cheek area, defining facial contours while also providing a gentle lift for the midface and lower face regions.
- Juvederm VollureTM XC typically is used to treat moderate to deep lines and folds around the nose and mouth, wrinkles sometimes referred to as “parentheses” lines.
Our specialists will develop a treatment plan just for you, which may include more than one type of Juvederm® to help you get the results you’re looking for. Depending on the areas you’d like to have treated, you might also choose to combine Juvederm® with BOTOXTM injections to treat dynamic wrinkles around your eyes (crow’s feet), brows, or forehead. Because this combination can treat both static and dynamic wrinkles throughout your entire face, it's often referred to as a liquid facelift.
