The 5 Steps of a HydraFacial Treatment

The 5 Steps of a HydraFacial Treatment

Here at Dutch Hollow Medical Day Spa in Godfrey, Illinois, we’re passionate about finding the most effective solutions to your skin concerns, while minimizing irritation and keeping things as simple as possible for you.

That’s why Dr. Samuel Figueroa, medical esthetician Mirka Figueroa, and our team can confidently recommend the HydraFacial® to nearly all our patients. Here’s what you should know about this advanced skin-renewing technique — and how it works to transform your complexion.

What is a HydraFacial?

HydraFacial is a suction-based, noninvasive clinical skin care treatment that can address multiple skin woes at once, from oily, sensitive, or congested skin to dry, dehydrated skin that’s showing signs of premature aging or sun damage.

Using advanced hydradermabrasion technology — a three-in-one technique that harnesses the power of water and oxygen — a HydraFacial simultaneously cleanses and gently exfoliates your skin while infusing it with hydration and anti-aging powerhouse ingredients.

That’s right: hydradermabrasion. Not to be confused with microdermabrasion technology, which uses microcrystals to manually exfoliate your skin. While also very effective, it can be a bit rougher, making the HydraFacial an amazing go-to for our patients with more sensitive skin.

HydraFacial can accomplish incredible results with the following five-step process:

Step 1: Cleanse

The first step of the process relies on the suction technology to mechanically, or physically, exfoliate the surface of the skin. This is a gentle way to clean and prep your skin for deeper exfoliation and removal of impurities.

Step 2: Peel

We then use gentle concentrations of glycolic and salicylic acids to chemically exfoliate the skin. Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that allows smooth polishing of the epidermis while promoting hydration. Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid that dissolves oil down to the pore.

Step 3: Extract

Once your skin has been manually and chemically exfoliated and all dead skin cells are out of the way, we can focus our attention on the dirt and debris in the deeper recesses of your pores. We use gentle vortex suction to extract impurities without skin damage, pain, or scarring.

Step 4: Hydrate

Next, your purified skin base is infused with humectants like hyaluronic acid to continually draw moisture deep into your skin for weeks to come. Even better, your daily hydration routine will start to show more in your skin than it did before your HydraFacial.

Step 5: Protect

Finally, HydraFacial’s proprietary solutions are applied to customize the treatment to your specific skin needs. Anti-aging and nourishing ingredients like antioxidants help to prevent ongoing damage from environmental pollution, while giving you an extra skin-glowing boost.

What to expect and how to prepare

Besides being able to treat multiple different skin concerns at once, one of our favorite things about the HydraFacial is how quick and easy it is. The treatment only takes about 45 minutes and doesn’t require any post-treatment downtime like many other cosmetic procedures.

We’re confident that a HydraFacial will be a great option for you, regardless of your skin type or aesthetic concerns. Still, we advise against scheduling the treatment any time you’re dealing with active epidermal inflammation like a sunburn, severe eczema, or an allergic reaction.

While you’ll see amazing results after just one treatment, we recommend getting a HydraFacial monthly to maximize skin transformation. We can also discuss your ideal treatment frequency based on your skin’s needs and budget.
